Is a phrase I often use when shopping. I’m a man who likes good value. Truth be told, I don’t like parting with money on goods but for experiences, I have no such issues. This is because I value experiences over materialist things.
When I can buy an item for £4.99 in one shop, I will usually make some sort of retort if I am being expected to purchase the same item for £35 in another.
“HOW MUCH? It’s a pen. What is it made from, solid gold? You must be joking!”
But after years of backpacking and staying in dorms with 85 other people all sharing a bucket for a bathroom, I feel like I’ve served my time.
I ask no such question when it comes to hotels. Quite the opposite in fact.
A hotel room being advertised for £24 a night would have me doing an inward shudder.
A hotel room being advertised for £250 a night would make me believe that I would be getting a rather nice space to sleep and stay.
A hotel room being advertised for £600 a night would make me believe that I am going to be experiencing a lot of luxury.
All hotel businesses are selling a place to sleep – but the quality in what is on offer will vary dramatically depending on price.
