How can less be so much more?

Being consistent in whatever you do is a key factor of success.

I knew this from the first year I set up my business and throughout Year 1, I kept a steady and consistent flow of content daily on LinkedIn.

I never missed a single day – even Christmas Day had content.

And I was rewarded with a steady growth of followers, along with clients as I grew my new business world.

By the time I hit the end of my second year in business, I was posting content even more rigorously – at least once a day (often twice a day), 365 days a year.

I actively promoted my services, followed up on leads, signed clients and built success by matching my headteacher salary I’d left in December 2021. Having reached a comfortable position, I made the decision to re-focus my time.

What would happen if I did some things that business advisors warned against?

  • Dropping side hustles used to ‘top up’ quieter months
  • Stop posting daily 365 days a year – dropping to weekday’s only and then dropping to 3 times a week content.
  • Stop rigorously advertising services 2 or 3 times a week
  • Stop actively chasing leads

To be honest, I fully expected to take a big hit on my business and that was okay because the trade-off was that I could spend more time on other things. So long as I had enough income, I figured my greatest commodity was my TIME.

So, what happened this year?

  • I had more time to do other things
  • After an initial dip, my followers grew by 63%
  • Perspective clients actively sought for me – and promptly signed up
  • Referrals and word-of-mouth went crazy
  • I exceeded my headteacher salary yet worked a 35-hour week FLEXIBLY

But the most astonishing outcome has been the analysis figures on LinkedIn

  • Impressions +819.8%
  • Members reached +761.3%
  • Engagement +510.9%

How is this possible?

This vastly significant increase in impressions, reach and engagement for posting around 156 times against posting 550 times the previous year!

Choosing to do less in my 3rd year of business has proven to be so much more. Yes, consistency is the key to be successful.
