Are you a career tyre-kicker?

We have all encountered those people who, whenever you list something for sale, ask if it is available and never follow through.

Car for Sale

They come along to view (or not show up), walk around kicking the tyres and then go off to ‘think about it’.

Facebook Marketplace

“Is it still available?”

“Yes, would you like to buy it.”

NOTHING – a ghost. Or they arrange to collect but never show up.

Career tyre-kicker

“I hate my job. I hate my job. I hate my job….”

They look at all the job adverts and don’t apply for anything.

“I hate my job. I hate my job. I hate my job…”

They look at the job adverts again and take no action.

“I hate my job. I hate my job. I hate my job…”

Fast-forward: 6-months later

“I hate my job. I hate my job. I hate my job…”

Fast-forward: 2-years later

“I hate my job. I hate my job. I hate my job…”

Fast-forward: 5-years later

“I hate my job. I hate my job. I hate my job…”

Reality check: until retirement

You are going to be in the job you hate.

Why?

There are lots of reasons why people get stuck with a career change.

It’s not easy. Change is scary. You may not know what else to do or how to switch careers.

This is okay. This is normal. Everyone who has changed career has felt like this. BUT… you will be in the job you hate for life unless you make ONE single decision.

The ONE single decision to change careers and find happiness

It will depend on either A or B… pick a letter that fits and then make that decision.

A

You know what you want to do next and have a reasonable grasp of how to go about applying, but you haven’t done anything about it.

Your one decision to make:

  • Decide to take action, take that first step and do something to get the ball rolling.
  • Decide to do nothing, you will be in the same position until you retire.

B

You are genuinely stuck and don’t know what else you could do or how to go about a career change, so this is why you have been unable to make the A decision.

Your one decision to make:

  • Decide to get help, contact a career coach and invest so you can find a career you love.
  • Decide to do nothing, you will be in the same position until you retire.

Unless you make that one decision and follow it through, you will keep kicking the tyres going nowhere.
